Plastic injection molding offers many different benefits.

Custom Plastic Parts Are Easily Adapted and Made
If you want to manufacture plastic parts, than plastic injection molding may be your best bet:

Continuing from our previous list of benefits:

5. No waste

The injection molding process results in very few scrap losses. It wastes little material, if the production situation is stable.

6. Decoration

Using Mold Decoration Technology, producers can hold ornate designs on plastic parts. Manufacturers merge in-mold decoration with injection molding.

In-mold decorating (IMD) is an intricate process. Besides the plastic usually used, they rely on a special mold, with film, as well. A carrier foil feeds IMD film into the injection mold. The foil feeder has adjustable control stands, which makes it easier to blend the mold and the film.

7. Precision

Injection molding is precise. It has tolerance, or accuracy, of 0.01mm. Workers can readily repeat it during molding cycles.

Why organizations should not make their own molds

These advantages may tempt organizations to invest in an injection molding machine and conduct the process themselves. Making injection molds on their own, however, is not always possible.

1. High operational costs

For a start, an injection molding machine is a heavy investment. Like most bulky machines, it is fairly expensive. It can take a few years for an organization to cover its cost. The process is unsuitable for short-run production. This refers to production that fulfils short-term contracts. The machine may become useless after the contract expires.

2. Time consuming

Injection molding is a time-consuming process. Graphic artists have to create mold designs way before it can begin. This can cause production to fall behind schedule.

3. Machine Size

The machine, of course, is large and bulky. This can mean having to rent or create a larger factory space.

4. Design limitations

Designed parts have to conform to the mold. Creating suitable, yet attractive designs is arduous. Manufacturers shelve many of their eye-catching creations because they are unsuitable for molding.

The advantages of using plastic injection molding services

Not surprisingly, organizations have turned to companies which specialize in injection molding. Hiring a certified injection molding company has its boons.

1. Skills

The workers in these companies have the skills to add detailed features to molds. Many of them are familiar with In-Mold Decorating and can blend multiple plastics together.

2. Material quality

Injection molding companies take pride in the materials they use. They make sure that they create products with superior plastics.

3. Documentation

These companies document the molding process. They can easily release details of how they manufacture products to the organizations which contract them.

4. Use uniform standards

Injection molding companies use uniform process standards, which allows contracting organizations to heave sighs of relief. The latter may not have the resources or ability to standardize molding processes and get workers who are less skilled to conform to rules.

5. Tackles short run production

Organizations can hire these companies to do ad hoc projects, making short run production possible.

Plastic injection molding is a highly effective process that organisations must rely on. Turning to a plastic injection molding company in Chandler makes it even more workable.

Plastic Injection Molding in Chandler: Making the Right Amount of Plastic Parts

As we covered previously, manufacturers make custom plastic parts via a process known as injection molding. A company's CEO must understand what this process entails before he can grasp its benefits. He must also realize the necessity of plastic injection molding services. One thing that is a problem for a lot of companies is waste. If you need 500 parts, and the plastic manufacturer you want to work with will only make lots of 2000 parts, then you have way too many extra parts, even for replacements. Instead you want a custom plastic parts company Continuing the plastic injection molding process from the previous part of this article:

After enough time has gone by, production assistants eject the cooled plastic part from the mold. A device forces it out. If pushing it out proves difficult, the assistants will spray a release agent on the surface of the mold's cavity. After ejection, they attach the clamp, put in another shot of plastic and repeat the process. Post processing The injection molding process usually requires follow-up. Residual material may solidify and attach itself to the plastic part. Workers trim this excess material off with cutters. They then recycle some of this material and use a grinder to break it down into plastic pellets. The pellets come in handy during the next injection process. The benefits of plastic injection molding are varied and diverse. Plastic injection molding has advantages which prompt many organizations to use it.

Efficiency in Motion: Plastic Injection Molding

To begin, it is highly efficient. Custom injection molding does not take long, which makes it possible for them to supply plastic parts to the market quickly. Ejection of molded plastic parts takes place every few seconds. Production assistants can program the molding machine to run throughout the night, if necessary. Cost-effectiveness Automated production is possible with plastic injection molding. This reduces labor costs. Manufacturers only need a few workers to make sure that the process runs as it should. Multiple materials Using more than one material is possible with injection molding. Workers can create parts which use more than one type of plastic. They can use melamine and polythene to make durable forks. A wide variety o all types of plastic materials can fit into an injection molding machine.

These include: a. Polythene, for making gas pipes b. Polycarbonate, used to make machine guards and riot shields c. Polypropylene, for producing medical equipment d. Epoxy resin, for making light materials e. Bakelite, used to produce circuit boards f. Polystyrene (styrofoam), used to make disposable cups and packages g. Polyvinyl Chloride, which manufacturers use to cover pipes h. and Melamine, a tough, heat-resistant plastic that forms many plates, cups and forks. It comes in a variety of colors. Some of these materials are strong enough to take the place of steel in production. Polyvinyl Chloride is resilient enough to cover pipes. Conversely, polyethylene is soft enough to make wraps and garbage bags.

Ultimately, you want to find a plastics manufacturer near you.

The Many Benefits of Using Plastic Injection Molding

Plastic injection molding is a 21st Century technology that helps businesses make as many or as few parts as they need.

Why Plastic Injection Molding

A world without plastic is difficult to imagine. Manufacturers use this universal substance to make everyday objects. Resilient, it is a source of support. It forms chair legs, pipes and even riot shields. Manufacturers make custom plastic parts via a process known as injection molding. A company's CEO must understand what this process entails before he can grasp its benefits. He must also realize the necessity of plastic injection molding services. What is plastic injection molding? Plastic injection molding, as its name suggests, refers to manufacturing plastic parts via an injection process. Companies use it to make a variety of products that have different complexities and sizes. An injection molding machine transforms plastic into the useful spoons, forks, and plates everyone is familiar with. Manufacturers melt plastic in this machine and inject it into a mold.

The Injection Molding Process: Using Injection Molding to Create Custom Plastic Parts

Molding, as straightforward as it seems, is not a simple act of putting plastic into a machine. It has several stages. A nondescript plastic plate goes through these stages before ending up on a dinner table. The more complex the plastic part is, the longer each stage takes. 1. Clamping Clamping is the first stage of plastic mold production. Producers attach a clamping unit to the injection molding machine before introducing plastic. A plastic mold has two halves. Production assistants join both halves to the injection molding machine and allow one of them to slide.

The clamping unit, which is hydraulically powered, pushes both halves together. It exerts enough force to close the mold securely. Clamping takes longer with larger machines, which exert greater forces. 2. Injection Producers then feed raw plastic pellets into the molding machine's injection unit. They melt the plastic using heat and pressure before quickly injecting it into the mold. Industry players call each injection a "shot". It is difficult to know how much time one shot takes, as the flow of the plastic changes constantly. 3. Cooling When the molten plastic touches the inside of a mold's surface, it begins to cool. It then solidifies, taking a desired form. It is common for the plastic to shrink at this stage. To minimize shrinking, manufacturers pack the plastic pellets into the injection mold carefully. They do not open the mold until the cooling time has passed.

If you want plastic parts, then your best bet is to find a polymer injection molding company in Chandler.

Need a Plastic Part? Hire a Plastic Injection Molding Company (Continued)

Custom plastic parts are used by a variety of different industries.

Not so long ago,  as we covered previously, most of these parts were produced in house by their respective industries.

Automotive Plastic Parts | 602-437-0136
Custom Plastic Parts in Industry

One of the biggest industries to use plastic parts is the automotive industry. Automotive plastic parts are a perfect example of a part that is mass produced and designed for a particular vehicle. Taking a look inside your car, you will notice that most of the parts are derived from some form of plastic . Although there has been a decrease in automotive injection molded plastics, they still remain widely used. The demand is expected to go higher, with the recovery of the motor vehicle industry.

There are several types of machinery used in plastic injection molding.   Plastic injection molding companies would not be able to provide plastic molding services without injection mold machines. Injection molding equipment comes in different sizes and varieties. Their used depends on the size of the product or part being made. Another factor that determines the mold press used is the amount of parts that need to be produced.
Since each project has different requirements, the injection molding machines have to be tooled and highly specialized. An injection molding machine has three parts: - Material hopper - The screw type plunger or the injection ram - Unit for heating Another commonly used machine during the plastic injection molding process is a 3-D. This is mostly used during the prototyping phase. The product is first designed using CAD software and then printed using a 3-D printer. As a result, the injection molding company will use this accurate prototype in creating the mold form.

Hiring Plastic Injection Molding Companies

Plastic injection molding companies exist to any company or business in creating products that are finished timely and of high quality. It still remains one of the cheapest options to outsource to a plastic injection molding company since the process of manufacturing is simplified. The majority of non-molding companies, mostly the smaller companies, do not possess their own injection molding machinery or personnel. This is due to the fact that they do not produce large volumes that would necessitate buying their own equipment. It is going to make the process easier when you outsource injection molding projects. Most importantly, it will also be cheaper in the long run.

Why Hire a Company to Make Custom Plastic Parts (Conclusion)

Plastic injection molding is still a relevant technology even in the age of 3-D printing.  Why? Well...

Plastic Injection Molding and New Technologies

3-D printing is a great invention.  It allows someone to take a drawing or picture, and with the help of a computer, can create a part that looks exactly like the picture or drawing made of pretty much any substance. There are even 3-D printers that make cakes in wild and fantastic shapes. It truly is amazing technology.  3-D printing can produce plastic parts.  There are several drawbacks, however, which makes plastic injection molding all the more valuable and a much more viable alternative to 3-D printing.

3-D printing is also prototype technology still, which means that parts are still relatively expensive to produce.  It also isn't fast.  It takes hours to produce one part, as opposed to less than 30 seconds to produce a part with plastic injection molding.

The Advantages of Plastic Injection Molding

In the injection molding process, the molds that are used are subjected to very high pressure. Due to this, plastic in the molds is pushed hard against the mold as compared to other molding techniques.

Due to this high pressure, it’s very easy to add several details to the final design of the part, and even design intricate custom plastic molds. In addition, due to very high pressure during the process, the intricate and complex design can be easily made which would be otherwise hard to manufacture.

Plastic injection molding is still the most cost-effective technology.  Though initial creation of a mold can be expensive,  once it is created a company can use it again and again to create a large volume of custom plastic parts at a minimal cost. For this reason, large production runs using plastic machining can easily cost up to 30 times more than plastic injection molding.

It's widely used.  Plastic injection molding is widely popular plastic producing processes. Just look around – you can easily see plenty of products that have been made via the process.

In manufacturing, various parties involved in the process, from design experts to the consumers, aim for lowered cost and quality of the products. Both these attributes of the product tend to have inverse relationship, where improvement in the quality of product often leads to increased cost. One important feature that easily resolves the tow is sharing the entire cost of the process across large volume production, thereby working at quality of the desired product at planning or design stages. With custom plastic parts using injection molding, customer and everyone in-between benefits greatly from the accuracy and intricacy of the output and reduced costs due to automation and rate of production. Most of the injection molding companies are online and provide details of the services provided by them on their websites. This will help you in making the right choice according to your needs for a custom plastic parts manufacture in Chandler.

Custom Plastic Parts and Injection Molding

In addition to being fast, efficient, and flexible, there are other reasons to use the plastic injection molding process to make plastic parts.

Plastic injection molding is resource-conscious, and more ecologically friendly than other plastic manufacturing processes. With increasing focus on sustainability these days, it’s common for product developers to choose the processes that minimize waste and benefit the environment.

Plastic injection molding is not only effective, but also a highly efficient process, which means reduced plastic waste. That’s because only as much plastic as necessary is used to create parts, and all excess plastic is again ground up and recycled for reuse. Remember the three R's: Reduce, Reuse, and Recyle?  Plastic injection molding does all three.

Plastic injection molding allows for the creation of durable plastic parts.  Another cool benefit of the plastic injection molding technique is that fillers can be easily added to components being manufactured, reducing density of processed plastic while adding strength to the finished parts. It is a ideal process for products or industries where parts are needed to be very strong. However, there are more reasons this miraculous process has support.

Plastic Parts Can Be Made of More Than One Type of Plastic

The latest injection molding facilities can easily process two or more different plastics at the same time.   So you can have a harder plastic mixed with a softer plastic for a truly custom plastic part.  Another advantage of plastic injection molding process to manufacture custom plastic parts is the ability of machine to use various types of plastics simultaneously.

This custom plastic blending can be done easily with the help of co-injection molding, which easily takes away worry about using any specific kind of plastic. During the injection molding process, it is very easy to use various types of fillers in the molds. These fillers help in reducing the density of plastic while it is being molded in the machine and also help in adding much greater strength to the components once they’ve been molded.

With a plastic injection molding process you get custom plastic parts that need minimal end finishing. That’s because all parts that come out of the mold are pretty much close to the finished appearance. A bit of trimming, a bit of wiping and the part is ready to go into the box.  Another reason a lot of companies want plastic parts made this way is that the process is automated.  A major part of the process is conducted by robotics and machines that can be controlled by an individual operator. Automation definitely helps in reducing manufacturing costs, overheads are considerably reduced. Aside from that, with reduced need for labor force the overall production cost is also reduced and this kind of cost savings can be easily passed on to the customer.

So it's fast.  You can customize your plastic parts.  And it allows you to mass produce plastic parts.  All very good reasons to get plastic injection molding.

Why Hire a Company to Make Custom Plastic Parts

If you need custom plastic parts, you have to pick a company that has the right sort of manufacturing process.
Custom Plastic Parts Are Easy
For the Right Company | 602-437-0136

Plastic Injection Molding and Customization

Custom plastic injection molding machines were created in early 1930’s to meet the growing industrial needs and complexities of the molding process. The machines used in such factories allow for mass production as well as repeated runs of particular parts.

During the plastic injection molding process, these machines are used to make custom plastic parts and have  become one of the easiest and most cost effective processes that is used by leading industries that use plastic components or parts. In this process, to manufacture custom plastic parts, melted plastic is injected in a mold using hydraulic force to give the plastic a particular shape. Around 35 percent of all plastic parts today are manufactured using custom plastic injection molding services.

Why the Plastic Injection Molding Process Works

Aside from being simple and reliable, it is also extremely efficient. One should have absolutely no doubt about using this process to manufacture custom plastic parts. A custom plastic injection molding machine consists of three vital components that usually vary from model and make.

The mold is the main component that gives the desired shape to the custom plastic parts, while main clamping unit holds various mold parts together throughout the process. The injection molding unit processes the plastic granules and feeds it directly to the mold for the final product. Custom plastic injection molding has definitely revolutionized the manufacturing sector, with more developments improving the efficiency in producing complex custom plastic parts. Here are some of the benefits of the process.

It's fast. This is the main reason why injection molding is one of the best technologies for long manufacturing runs. It’s really fast. How fast? While the manufacturing speed for custom plastic parts will depend upon the complexity of the mold, generally it is about 14-30 seconds pass between cycle times.

Plastic injection molding is accurate.  It's a highly precise process that can easily fabricate any kind of plastic part. There are some design restrictions but molds used in the machine allow the finished product to be very precise. Usually the accuracy is within 0.005 inches. Low labor costs is another reason for molding plastic.  Injection molding machines run with an automatic, self-gating tool that keeps operations streamlined and production process ongoing, requiring minimal supervision.
The final reason for injection molding is flexibility.  Aside from being highly accurate, the injection molding process used to manufacture custom plastic parts is also a highly flexible one. You just have to change the type of material which is being produced as well as the color of your product to get entirely different results.

So if you need plastic parts, the best process to get them made is plastic injection molding.

Plastic Injection Molding and Types of Plastic

Plastic injection molding is a process that allows a business to create parts in any number.  The key thing to note is that there are several types of plastics around.

Types of Plastics Used in Plastic Injection Molding

Plastic is an essential component of numerous products from product containers and water bottles all the way up to construction materials.   All plastics aren't the same, however.
The Society of the Plastics Industry is an advisory board that sets standards for plastics and plastic injection molding.  According to their site:

"SPI introduced the Resin Identification Code (RIC) system in 1988 at the urging of recyclers around the country. A growing number of communities were implementing recycling programs in an effort to decrease the volume of waste subject to rising tipping fees at landfills. In some cases, these programs were driven by state-level recycling mandates.
The code was developed to meet recyclers' needs while providing manufacturers a consistent, uniform system that could apply nationwide. Because municipal recycling programs traditionally have targeted packaging - primarily containers - the coding system offered a means of identifying the resin content of bottles and containers commonly found in the residential waste stream. The RICs are used solely to identify the plastic resin used in a manufactured article.
In 2008, SPI began work with ASTM International, a globally recognized leader in the development and delivery of international voluntary consensus standards, to develop a new standard that would expand the current RIC system. In 2010 ASTM International issued ASTM D7611 - Standard Practice for Coding Plastic Manufactured Articles for Resin Identification.  In 2013 ASTM International announced revisions to ASTM D7611 including a change to the graphic marking symbol used to identify resin type. The RIC system has used a “chasing arrows” symbol surrounding a numeral from 1 to 7 that defines the resin used in the product’s packaging. Under D7611, this marking symbol is now specified as a solid equilateral triangle around the number. By replacing the chasing arrows graphic – commonly associated with recycling – with an equilateral triangle, ASTM D7611 stressed the focus to the system’s core mission: resin identification and quality control prior to recycling. Other modifications to the RIC are currently being discussed and developed by ASTM's D20.95 subcommittee on recycled plastics.  [READ SOURCE]

Plastic injection molding is all about versatility.  Different materials can also be used in the making of the parts. Flexibility in design and production for a manufacturing company is very vital, thus explaining why so many companies opt to hire an injection molding company for plastic parts manufacturing.

Molding machines offer low labor cost. Compared to having a group of people hammering the parts to be manufactured, a plastic injection molding machine is autonomous and requires very few people to run it. Low labor cost for a manufacturing company translates to lower input thus maximized profits. Materials contribute to the profitability of a manufacturing company. It is therefore vital that material waste is as minimal as possible to maximize on the profits realized by the company.

Plastic Injection Molding and Manufacturing Parts

Plastics are currently the most common manufacturing material in use. The molding machine usually uses plastic for the manufacturing of the desired product. Since plastic can be recycled, any waste during injection molding gets recycled, thus reducing wastage on materials and maximizing the company’s resource utilization and profits.
Though injection molding has its own disadvantages such as some restrictions in the designing of the parts to be manufactured; which is attributed to a number of reasons such as the parts made through the process must be solid and not hollow, this manufacturing practice is still common among manufacturing industries around the globe. The number of components and parts that can be made through this process is quite big. The number of companies specializing in plastic injection molding is also increasing due to the increasing popularity of this manufacturing practice.

If you get to look around you, and see the number of components that have been made through injection molding, you will have an endless list. This manufacturing practice is here to stay as it has lots of promise, to the manufacturing industry.

Plastic Injection Molding: Automation and the Human Touch

Plastic injection molding has been a combination of human involvement and automation.

Call for Plastic Injection Molding | 602-437-0136
Plastic Injection Molding in Phoenix

Injection molding has been automated a while now. This is a great leap as plastic parts manufacturing through injection molding have become more accurate with enhanced precision due to the use of automation, thus providing better results. Some companies own molding machines that they use in the manufacturing of their own products.

A molding machine is expensive equipment that needs a lot of cash to install and maintain. Similarly, skill is required to run this machine. However, many companies prefer to hire a company that will manufacture for them their products or components instead of them purchasing and installing their own molding machine.

It is true that there are companies out there in the market that deal in the production of custom made parts, made through injection molding. These companies offer supplementary services to manufacturing companies by assisting them in their production process. But why would such kind of companies exist? Setting up and running a molding machine is a task that requires both money and skill. Since so many companies don’t want to spend a huge amount of money in purchasing this machine much less hire the personnel to run it, they make use of other companies that specialize on plastic parts manufacturing through injection molding.

Injection Molding and Manufacturing

As we covered previously, the reason why injection molding is a common manufacturing practice in the manufacturing industries is because of the advantages it has when put in use. One of these advantages is faster production. Injection molding is a process that takes only a short while to have one part or component manufactured. With a high output rate; which is usually a matter of 15-30 seconds per part though this is dependent on the type and amount of material being used, injection molding surely speeds up the manufacturing process. This enables the manufacturing company to meet the demand in the market through faster production.

Designing is a never ending process, and there is no perfect design that has ever been made. All designs do change and when different designs are being tried out to see which one is more appealing than the other, time is a limiting factor as well as flexibility of the equipment manufacturing the part. For molding machines however, the molding cavities can be changed according to the required design. Plastic injection molding is the future.

Plastic Injection Molding in Phoenix and It's Versatility

In the manufacturing industry, each product has to be designed and manufactured according to the design blueprints, which is where a process like plastic injection molding comes in.

Get Custom Plastic Parts in Phoenix | 602-437-0136

Why Should You Get Custom Plastic Parts?

Why should you get custom plastic parts? Manufacturing products and parts can be a labor intensive and pretty expensive exercise if the right methods are not used. If you want to manufacture custom parts such as automotive body panels, dashboards, storage containers or mechanical parts such as gears, plastic manufacturing through injection molding is something you should be considering. So, what is injection molding?

Injection molding is a manufacturing process where custom parts are manufactured through the use of plastic or other resinous material injected into a mold. Several materials are used for injection molding. These are: confections, glasses, metals, elastomers and the most commonly used materials are thermosetting and thermoplastic polymers. However, thermoplastics are commonly preferred in injection molding over thermosetting polymers due to the fact that the latter poise a bigger risk of damaging the injection machine due to chemical cross-linking that happens if the thermosetting polymer is not ejected at the right time, from the injection barrel.

How Plastic Injection Molding Works

To carry out injection molding, a molding machine is required. A molding machine contains several components and systems that work together to carry out the molding process. Some of these components are: a mold assembly, a heating unit and a ram. Basically, a molding machine carries out injection molding by squeezing material, usually molten, into a mold cavity. The mold cavity is designed according to the desired shape of the product to be manufactured.

The mold, in which there is the mold cavity, is usually made using a mold maker. The mold maker machines the mold from metal, with the most common metals used being steel and aluminum. When carrying out injection molding, the material to be used in the process is fed to a heating unit that reduces the viscosity of the material allowing it to flow. A ram or screw-type plunger forces the molten plastic material into the mold cavity, using high pressure and velocity. The molten plastic material, on cooling, hardens to take the shape of the mold cavity, which is the desired shape of the product, according to the desired design. The joy of using a company that offers molding services, is that any number of custom plastic parts can be manufactured, from a few to several thousand.

Need Custom Plastic Parts? Hire a Plastic Injection Molding Company

If your company need plastic parts, you have a choice to either manufacture your product parts in-house or hire a plastic injection molding company. While there are businesses that successfully fabricate all their products in-house and make a huge profit, most companies are well off outsourcing the manufacturing to a third-party vendor while they focus on other important aspects like research and product branding.

Custom Plastic Parts Are Easy to Get With the Right
Plastics Maker | 602-437-0136
Why Should You Work With a Plastic Injection Molding Company in Chandler?

For, this is a good choice to make. On the surface, outsourcing custom plastic parts manufacturing to China or India may seem cheaper on the surface, the amount of money that you save can be offset by the diminishing quality of the products.

If you’re oft two minds about hiring a vendor to manufacture your plastic parts, we’ve compiled a list of benefits and considerations that will hopefully, help you make the right choice. Read on.

Reduced costs is one big reason.   Fabrication firms pointed out that the prime advantage of outsourcing is the reduced cost of manufacturing. Sure enough, businesses save money by not having to buy specialized equipment for injection molding. But there are other “hidden” costs that you save such as – i. Direct labor costs – You need not worry about hiring and employing workers on payroll and paying their wages and providing them with benefits. ii. Indirect managing costs – These include hiring personnel for managerial jobs like supervisors and production managers, infrastructure costs, and other labor related expenses. You manage to save a huge chunk of money by not having to create a whole new department to oversee fabrication. iii. Maintenance costs – You will need to house your injection molding equipment in an appropriate facility and ensure that it is serviced from time to time. Businesses can avoid these costs by choosing to hire a plastic injection molding company to take care of all their manufacturing. In addition to the above, expenses related to ICT (computers and telephone services for employees), future overheads,

Human Resource management costs, and others are also taken into consideration. A plastic injection molding company does all of this as part of their service, without charging you a separate fee. Thus, there is a noticeable cost-wise advantage when businesses

The Types of Custom Plastic Parts

Custom plastic parts can be further customized based on the type of molding involved.  Compression molding, for example is excellent for bigger products such as automobile parts. Compression molding is often formed in sheets. The process is called curing and the central purpose for curing is it assures the integrity of the product for the long haul. In the same lines as other molding techniques, when the part has been finally formed, it is detached from the mold. If the material for the sheeting plastic is utilized before it is removed, the material will then be trimmed.

High-strength compounds settings like thermal resins are then formed into a mold to produce reinforced plastics and fiberglass. The process is highly advantageous for the auto industry, simply because of the superior strength properties of the materials which makes up the plastic.

Blow Molding: Great for bottles and hollowed products

A method that is very similar in steps to glass blowing, which involves a parison (plastic tube), that is inflated by oxygen. This desired shaped is produced from air pushing the plastic against the mold. The piece will then be injected after it has finally cooled down.

The manufacturing process of blow molding is usually done in a high volume, which churns out one-piece hollow objects. If the need to make a king’s ransom of bottles is ever needed, this is the process is for you. Uniform, thin-walled containers are produced in a very uniformed fashion created by blow molding. The process is always deemed as an economical venture.

Extrusion Molding: Excellent for lengthy hollow-formed products such as straws, pipes and tubings

While contrasts of other molding utilize extrusions to get the plastic resins within the molding, The plastic will directly be placed into a die. What determines the final shape of the product isn’t the mold but it is the die. The tubing is then cooled down, extruded then rolled or cut for shipping.

Injecting into Life, One Custom Plastic Part at a Time

The plastic parts which come from these machines are a part of a creation of some of the most extraordinary, life saving and efficient products that benefit mankind on the everyday. Underrated and partly ignored, the products that spawn from the plastic injection process will always be at the forefront of our worlds productivity.

General Information About Plastic Injection Molding

Plastic injection molding is different from traditional reaction molding process in that it strictly depends on mechanical mixing as opposed to pressurized impingement mixing. Some of the key materials are liquid silicone rubber and other resins.

The process is efficient and allows for mass production of custom plastic parts such as isolators, o-rings and electronic contacts.

The material properties of the finished plastic parts is due in no small part to the sheer versatility of  liquid plastic injection molding. The plastic is heated until it's molten.  Sometimes more than one type of plastic is mixed in, as are other resins  The unique characteristics that the resins provide can come out opaque or transparent, clear, or colored. In addition to how they look, these particular materials can act as conductors or insulators, depending on their chemical composition.

Today, plastics are being developed to create everything from auto parts to synthetic limbs for the human body. Each unique application requires it’s own manufacturing process that will mold all the different parts to the right specifications. Below you will get an understanding of the different types of plastic molding parts and the benefits that they employ.

The Liquid Plastic Injection Molding Process

The process of liquid injection molding sets it’s focus on the mixing and dispensing of the apportioned plastic-based materials along with a series of plungers. On a normal basis, the base forming plastic is contained by one plunger, which is then backed up with fibers and additives. The plunger will steadily hold on to the catalyst which produces the mixing reaction into full activation. The injection of the compounded material commences the injection straight into the sealed molding and after it hardens, the component then becomes injected after nearly finishing, directly into the molding machine. The materials most commonly involved in the liquid injection molding process are silicones and acrylics. The machine hardware can become clogged with liquid plastic, to help in the prevention, a spring-loaded pin nozzle is then used for the stage of injection.

The leftover plastic is trimmed off and finally the part is completed.  So remember, if you need custom plastic parts, contact a plastic manufacturer.
