The Types of Custom Plastic Parts

Custom plastic parts can be further customized based on the type of molding involved.  Compression molding, for example is excellent for bigger products such as automobile parts. Compression molding is often formed in sheets. The process is called curing and the central purpose for curing is it assures the integrity of the product for the long haul. In the same lines as other molding techniques, when the part has been finally formed, it is detached from the mold. If the material for the sheeting plastic is utilized before it is removed, the material will then be trimmed. 

High-strength compounds settings like thermal resins are then formed into a mold to produce reinforced plastics and fiberglass. The process is highly advantageous for the auto industry, simply because of the superior strength properties of the materials which makes up the plastic.

Blow Molding: Great for bottles and hollowed products

The process is always deemed as an economical venture.

Extrusion Molding: Excellent for lengthy hollow-formed products such as straws, pipes and tubings

While contrasts of other molding utilize extrusions to get the plastic resins within the molding, The plastic will directly be placed into a die. What determines the final shape of the product isn’t the mold but it is the die. The tubing is then cooled down, extruded then rolled or cut for shipping.

Plastic injection molding is different from traditional reaction molding process in that it strictly depends on mechanical mixing as opposed to pressurized impingement mixing. Some of the key materials are liquid silicone rubber and other resins.

The process is efficient and allows for mass production of custom plastic parts such as isolators, o-rings and electronic contacts. 

The material properties of the finished plastic parts is due in no small part to the sheer versatility of  liquid plastic injection molding. The plastic is heated until it's molten.  Sometimes more than one type of plastic is mixed in, as are other resins  The unique characteristics that the resins provide can come out opaque or transparent, clear, or colored. In addition to how they look, these particular materials can act as conductors or insulators, depending on their chemical composition.

Today, plastics are being developed to create everything from auto parts to synthetic limbs for the human body. Each unique application requires it’s own manufacturing process that will mold all the different parts to the right specifications. The Liquid Plastic Injection Molding Process


The process of liquid injection molding sets it’s focus on the mixing and dispensing of the apportioned plastic-based materials along with a series of plungers. On a normal basis, the base forming plastic is contained by one plunger, which is then backed up with fibers and additives. The plunger will steadily hold on to the catalyst which produces the mixing reaction into full activation. The injection of the compounded material commences the injection straight into the sealed molding and after it hardens, the component then becomes injected after nearly finishing, directly into the molding machine. The materials most commonly involved in the liquid injection molding process are silicones and acrylics. The machine hardware can become clogged with liquid plastic, to help in the prevention, a spring-loaded pin nozzle is then used for the stage of injection.
